AccelHealth CEO, Esther Taylor is proud to announce Dr. Tom D. Byrd, MD, has joined the AccelHealth Clinic in Brownwood, Texas. Tom is a native of Brownwood and attended public school in Killeen, Texas. He is a graduate of The University of Texas (Austin) and attended medical school at The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas where he was involved in clinical research. Tom has practiced medicine in Brownwood since 1995 both in private practice and as a hospitalist where he served as the director of Hospital Medicine at Brownwood Regional Medical Center. Tom has a masters certificate in Global Health and has been involved in clinic development in Burundi (Africa) for a number of years. There he serves as a clinical consultant for The Cornerstone Clinic for The Cries of a Child and is passionate about disease prevention, malnutrition, and community health education. He and his wife Sue have been married 35 years and are members of St Johns Church. They are active in many local civic organizations and are the proud parents and grandparents of Dr. Roy Byrd, his wife Lindsay and their three children, Shelby Arbogast RN and her husband Blake, and Sara Byrd. All of Tom and Sue’s children are graduates of Brownwood High School. Tom enjoys distance running, biking and reading. His clinical interest include: nutrition, disease prevention, and management of chronic disease.
